Topic: Oysters, Shrimp, and Seashells...OA!

Over the past decade, ocean acidification research has advanced our understanding of the potential threats and dynamics of how this global stressor may manifest locally. I intend to provide an overview of various work from my lab group over this time touching on aspects of what ocean acidification may mean to oysters, Oregon Pink Shrimp and the persistence of calcium carbonate shells in estuarine environments. In addition, I will highlight ongoing work to understand the spatial and temporal dynamics of carbonate chemistry in Yaquina Bay, and preliminary efforts to explore ways to offset ocean acidification in tide-flats via alkalinization.
