These data depict the area within the West Coast Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) that is seaward of straight line approximating the 700-fathom depth contour off Washington, Oregon, and California and within the area identified as Essential Fish Habitat (EFH).

The coordinate locations are from NMFS' Final Rule to implement Amendment 19 to the Pacific Coast Groundfish Fishery Management Plan (71 FR 27408; May 11, 2006). The official coordinates for the 700-fm line are given in Section 660.396 of the Final Rule.

These GIS data contain stream reaches that were designated as "critical habitat" for the Oregon Coast coho salmon Evolutionarily Significant Unit (ESU). The critical habitat is defined in the National Marine Fisheries Service's (NOAA Fisheries) final rule to designate critical habitat for this ESU on February 11, 2008.

These data depict ecologically important areas that were developed through a collaborative process. These areas were designated by the Pacific Fishery Management Council on June 15, 2005 as part of the Preferred Alternative for the Groundfish Essential Fish Habitat (EFH), Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS). In order to minimize adverse impacts to EFH, these areas are proposed to be closed to specified gear types.

Nearshore Ecological Data Atlas Planning Grid populated with the results of Marxan analyses for the Fish target group. A series of Marxan scenarios comprised of 100 runs, with 10,000,000 iterations each, were completed. A best iteration was selected from each run, and a "Sum" solution resulted, which depicts how often within the 100 runs a planning grid cell was in a best iteration.
