Science Links
Whales have individual personalities and stories. Through this website you can learn about the lives of some of our most iconic gray whales that feed along the Oregon coast, including surviving major injuries, finding mates and having calves, and feeding in specialized ways.
The spirit of exploration is alive and well in Oregon. Only now, it’s underwater. Oregon’s five marine reserve sites are areas in the ocean dedicated to conservation and scientific research. In the reserves all ocean development and removal of marine life is prohibited. Management and scientific monitoring of the sites is overseen by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW).

The Elakha Alliance is a 501(c)3 non-profit in Oregon. The mission of the Elakha Alliance is to restore a healthy population of sea otters to the Oregon coast and to thereby make Oregon’s marine and coastal ecosystem more robust and resilient.

Friends of Otter Rock Marine Reserve was born out of the need to bring together independent, volunteer stewardship of the Otter Rock Marine Reserve under one organization to engage more effectively with the public and stakeholders in advocacy, stewardship, and protection of Otter Rock Marine Reserve.
HRAP operates a seasonal Rocky Shore Interpreter Program from February through November, to educate visitors on the local intertidal and seabird ecology, encourage the practice of proper tidepool etiquette, and educate visitors about the state and federal laws and agencies responsible for managing Haystack Rock.
The Seven Capes Bird Alliance (SCBA), formerly Audubon Society of Lincoln City, has been active in educating about and advocating for protections of birds, other wildlife, and their habitats in Lincoln and Tillamook counties.
The Northwest Association of Networked Ocean Observing Systems (NANOOS) is the Regional Association of the national Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) in the Pacific Northwest, primarily Washington and Oregon. NANOOS hosts a visualization system, called NVS, which provides a number of different tailored Apps for meeting community needs.
