Cape Kiwanda is a sandstone headland with cliffs approximately 100 ft or more in height with an easily accessible intertidal area on the south side.

The Otter Rock site is located offshore of a section of coast that extends from Otter Crest State Scenic Viewpoint on the north, to Gull Rock on the south.

Yaquina Head is made up  of intertidal intermixed with sand and cobble/pebble beaches, basalt and sandstone cliffs, associated submerged and submersible rocks and subtidal habitat, including kelp beds.
